Sakawrdai, Sinlung Hills, April 23, 2025, Virthli(ONP): The Hmar Inpui (Hmar Supreme House) today held its 10th Executive Council meeting at the Sakawrdai Community Hall in Sinlung Hills, Mizoram. The session, which ran from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, brought together 58 delegates from across its organizational and regional structures.
Delegates included members of the Assembly Secretariat, General Headquarters Office Bearers, Executive Committee members, and sub-committees such as the Political Affairs and Finance Committees. Also in attendance were advisers and delegates from various affiliated bodies.
Among the participating organizations were the Hmar Youth Association (HYA), Hmar Christian Leaders’ Forum (HCLF), Hmar Art & Culture Society (HACS), Hmar Artists’ Association (HAA), Hmar National Union (HNU), Hmar Women Association (HWA), and Hmar Students’ Association (HSA). Delegates were also present from multiple regional branches, including Mizoram, Vangai, Hmarbiel, Jiribam, Meghalaya, Assam Hills, Tuithaphai, Imphal, Barak Valley, and Guwahati.
The council reviewed and deliberated on 21 agenda items, resulting in the adoption of 10 key resolutions in accordance with the Hmar Inpui Constitution. These resolutions will be presented for endorsement at the upcoming 14th General Assembly on April 24, 2025.
Assembly Speaker Rev. Rohminglien Pakhuongte presided over the session. The meeting began with a devotional led by Rev. Joseph L. Khawbung, Presbytery Secretary of the Independent Church of India (ICI), who highlighted the role of faith and divine guidance in leadership and public service.
Following the devotional, Assembly Secretary Upa R. Tawna Khawbung conducted the roll call and formal proceedings, affirming the meeting’s constitutional validity. During the business session, the body discussed the revised and expanded Hmar Inpui Constitution. Special acknowledgments were extended to delegates from the Mizoram Region for their contributions to the process.
The session concluded with words of appreciation from the Secretariat, delivered by Speaker Rev. Pakhuongte, and a closing prayer offered by Pastor Solomon Inbuon of RPC NEI Circle.
Preparations are now underway for the 14th General Assembly-cum-Election (2025–2028 term), which is expected to draw significant participation. The event will mark the election of new leadership and address key issues concerning the Hmar community. Final preparations are being overseen by the General Headquarters.
